Community

The Canberra Southern Cross Club has a proud history of supporting local community groups that help bring people together and make a positive difference in the ACT.
Each year, our Community Giving Programs provide funding and in-kind support of over $1.5 million to help over 350 local organisations deliver activities, programs and events that matter.
Our Community Giving Programs are reviewed annually through a formal application process, with each applicant required to provide their mission statement, key objectives, purpose and intended use of the funding. Recipients are required to provide confirmation via an acquittal process that the funds/in kind support was used for the originally intended purpose.
In addition, applications contain questions that enable the Club to form an opinion as to whether the funds are a community purpose contribution. This process allows the Club to assess each individual application and the intended positive impact the funding will have on the Canberra community.
Our Community Giving Programs operate in line with ACT Government requirements and legislative guidelines. These guidelines set out how community purpose contributions are defined, assessed and reported, ensuring funding and support are directed to eligible community purposes and managed in a transparent and accountable way.

Funding Programs
We have 5 key programs through which we supply cash, food, and services in kind to our community:

The Community Rewards Program lets you nominate a Community Group participating in the program, then we calculate the equivalent of 7.5% of the member’s spend on food and beverages at our Woden, Tuggeranong, Jamison, Yacht Club and Snapper & Co. to be donated to that group. Funds are calculated monthly and distributed quarterly. Applications are open for FY 2026-2027 from 1 March 2026, and close on 1 June 2026, Applications received outside of this timeframe may be considered at the discretion of the CEO.
