The Parlour Social

1-4pm Sunday 19 May, Jamison

Sunday afternoon Jazz at Jamison – enjoy three hours of free live jazz from 1pm in the lounge, presented by Canberra Jazz Club.

The Parlour Social will transport you to the early times of swinging hot jazz and the foot-stomping rhythm of the Ragtime era. Today, we call it traditional jazz, New Orleans jazz or Dixieland but back then, it was just Ragtime.

The amazing ragtime and stride pianist Robbie Mann and his hugely talented traditional jazz band will take you on a journey from early 20th century dance music, the music of greats such as Fats Waller and the Ragtime masters, Joplin, Lamb and Scott, through to the great Tin Pan Alley songsmiths to songs from today you would have never guessed could be played to a Ragtime rhythm.

Joining Robbie will be Canberra locals Zach Raffan on trumpet, Thomas Manley on clarinet, Owen Cooper on trombone, Liam O’Connell on banjo, David Abkiewicz on sousaphone and Simeon Staker on drums.

Wonderous music! Highly entertaining!

Free event, no need to book
