John Williamson Winding Back (2021)
Thursday 18 November 2021, Woden
Australian icon, John Williamson, will celebrate his 51st anniversary in the music industry in 2021.
Like a dust-covered road train traversing this country, his songs capture the beauty of the landscape and its people and sometimes, the heartbreak of life Down Under, deftly moving between larrikin humour and touching pathos. Don’t miss the opportunity to see him live on his ‘Winding Back’ tour.
How y’going folks
It is with great sadness that I have to announce the postponement of my concert (again!) and it will now be held on Thursday 18 November, 2021. I look forward to sharing my 50th year with you in my 51st year, in 2021. I’m so frequently reminded by my loyal fans what joy and hope my music brings to people and I thank you for that and hope you can keep listening. In the meantime, let’s all take a deep breath, look after each other, stay safe and I will definitely see you along the road of song in 2021.
It was 1970 when John Williamson released his first song, Old Man Emu which kick started a five decade career, crafting out some of Australia’s unofficial anthems, tender ballads and songs that captured the outback landscape and the people of the country. He has toured the country many times over, selling more than 5 million albums along the way, and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2010.
“While I’m not looking to retire just yet, once I’ve completed my 2021 Winding Back Tour I’ll be scaling down my live appearances,” John says. “I’ve always loved the connection I receive when performing, so you’ll still see me popping up at festivals and special events. ‘Winding Back’ means I’m looking forward to spending more time in the garden and less time away from home.”
Mallee Boy, True Blue, Fair Dinkum, or whatever you call him, there is no other performer who stirs the Aussie spirit as he does – and this could be the final time you get to experience his inspiring concert.
