John Schumann and the Vagabond Crew
Saturday 10 November, Woden
John Schumann and The Vagabond Crew return to Canberra!
Best known for his leadership of the legendary folk-rock band Redgum, and his Vietnam veterans’ anthem, I was only 19, John Schumann is acclaimed as one of Australia’s most influential songwriters
From Redgum’s formation in 1975 through to John’s magnificent solo albums, Etched In Blue, True Believers, Lawson and Behind The Lines, John Schumann has spent his life understanding, exploring and promoting Australia in all its diversity.
His brand new album with The Vagabond Crew, Ghosts & Memories continues in that tradition, with a co-composition and duet with Goanna’s Shane Howard, a suite of songs about the explorer John McDouall Stuart, heartfelt reflections on our Anzac tradition, FIFO, and recollections of what life was like as an Australian kid when you could do stuff without a risk analysis and a SWAT team.
John Schumann will be joined on stage by his 6 piece band, the Vagabond Crew, playing songs from the Redgum years and his 30 year career as a solo artist.
As ever, John Schumann’s concert will be replete with tales, wit, reflections and international standard live musicianship.
Canberra holds a special place for John Schumann and his music. These tickets will sell out fast!
