Exciting Upgrades planned
Members will soon notice some positive changes at Jamison, Tuggeranong and Woden. We’re embarking on an ambitious upgrade of all our venues and the first cab off the rank will be Jamison, which is expected to be completed in April.
Hot on its heels will be a significant refurbishment at Tuggeranong which will be completed by early June. A major upgrade for Woden will commence with a Master Plan for the venue which will be completed by July 2015.
The Venue Master Plan will go on display for Member feedback and we’ll also liaise closely with Government to ensure our plans are aligned to the Master Plan for the renewal of the whole Woden town centre.
The vision for the refurbishments is to provide places where you can visit more often, enjoying great food, good company and the best of comfort in contemporary surrounds that are particularly welcoming to families and friends.
Sue Jago from Split Watermelon design is helping the Club with the refurbishment of Jamison and Tuggeranong. She told Members Magazine that the feel she wants to create at Jamison was ‘contemporary classic’ with a homely, relaxed and comfortable feel. There will be plenty of warm earthy tones that reflect the local green spaces of the area.
Additionally, given the sporting roots of Jamison there’s significant investment being made in TV’s for live sport. A feature will be a massive 85 inch LED screen in the lounge that will be popular especially for Super Rugby 15 games and Internationals. The lounge will feature comfortable new furniture and upgraded bathrooms off the gaming room.
At Tuggeranong, Sue Jago has designed interior using lots of natural finishes, with ‘a rustic edge’. Sue says ‘Our interiors are aimed at generating different spaces within the venue that Members can enjoy. We spend a lot of time understanding who comes to the Club currently along with whom the Club wishes to attract in the future’.
A significant part of improvementsat both Tuggeranong and Jamison will be new TAB facilities. Modelled on ‘Platinum’ grade TAB’s in NSW the new areas will feature the best in technology, punter information and punter comfort. A new innovation will be the trial of TAB’s own ‘electronic form’ We’ll be the first in the ACT to introduce this feature and in fact one of the first in Australia.
Sean Scott the Wagering Sales Manager at Tabcorp told us “We are delighted to work with Canberra Southern Cross Club providing a state of the art TAB facility for members and guests. You’ll see several significant improvements, including the introduction of Electronic wall sheets, Sky Channel feature walls, enhanced sport viewing and customer information terminals. Punters can look forward to quality vision and an environment rich with information to help them enjoy the great Australian pastime of having a bet on the races or their favourite sport.”
The Woden Venue Master Plan will take a little longer to develop given the size of the Venue and the number of customers that come through the door each day. But rest assured that this will be a hugely exciting redevelopment that will provide you, our Member, with an unrivalled dining and entertainment precinct. You can get up to date news of the developments at every venue by checking this website or better still, subscribing to our weekly e-news.
