The Pioneer Club

Members are invited to join the Pioneer Club which operates under the patronage of the Canberra Southern Cross Club.

The Pioneer Club has been running for over 20 years; originally it was comprised of foundation members of the club and was run by a group of the founding CSCC Board members. While it has always been called Pioneer Club, it has no formal constitution and was always intended to be a pleasant lunch encounter for its members.

In more recent times membership has been widened and nowadays anyone who is a member of the CSCC is welcome to join the Pioneers; there are no fees or commitments involved.

Pioneer Club meetings consist of a luncheon held on the last Friday of each month from February to November; usually the lunches are at the Woden club but once or twice a year we venture out on MV Southern Cross for a pleasant two hour cruise as seen in the photo.

There are no speeches at the lunches; we want members to relax and have a pleasant time.

Meal prices are reasonable; currently $20 at Woden and $50 per head aboard MV Southern Cross for a set roast followed by cheese and biscuits plus coffee; wines are available at a low cost of $17 per bottle.

You are most welcome to join the Pioneer Club and be assured that it involves no commitments other than letting us know, in response to a letter that will be sent to you each month, that you intend coming to lunch. Payment for the lunch will be at the door.
