Jazz at Jamison – Blue Gumbo
- This event has passed.
Sunday 11 January, Jamison
Blue Gumbo is a collective of Canberra jazz musicians, serving up a hearty mix of traditional, swing, and New Orleans jazz beats. Typically forming a 6-to-8-piece ensemble, the band draws on the New Orleans jazz tradition, showcasing solo and collective improvisation. Blue Gumbo’s music is as varied and spicy as the southern dish that is its namesake.
Sporting their signature yachting caps, a trademark of early New Orleans brass bands, the collective creates an upbeat and lively atmosphere wherever they play and they have become a popular feature at many cafes, bars, and outdoor events in the Canberra region.
Blue Gumbo is also a regular at the annual Merimbula Jazz Festival and we welcome them to their debut appearance at ‘Jazz at Jamison’.
Musicians playing on the day will be leader Jeremy Tsuei on double bass; Keydan Bruce on trumpet; Farzana Bruce on flugelhorn; Tom Priest on saxophone; Ben Lanyon on guitar and Paul Dugdale on drums.
