Community Grants Feedback
The Canberra Southern Cross Club has received much feedback from the 2015 Community Grants recipients. Here’s a selection received by the Club from the many diverse organisations making a positive difference to the Canberra community.
We also won the ClubsACT 2015 Community Partnership award for the work we do with our community partners.
ACT CHILDREN’S WEEK
On behalf of the ACT Children’s Week Committee I would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Southern Cross Club for the ongoing support you give to us. Your generous sponsorship will again enable the Children’s Week Committee to provide refreshments for all who attended the 2015 Launch and Awards ceremony. The support of the Southern Cross Club is highly significant to the success of Children’s Week each year.

This support, in partnership with the Snow Foundation enables Karinya to employ a caseworker to facilitate Karinya House weekly groups and also provide casework support to clients. PEGASUS RIDING FOR THE DISABLED
Thanks to your support, Pegasus continues to make a difference in the lives of people with a disability throughout the ACT and south-west NSW. Our pony activities include mounted and un-mounted programs. They enable the horse and rider to be as one. The horse emulates that of a human walk-improving coordination, muscle development and fitness- and their unobtrusive and gentle nature helps build confidence and self-esteem. Your gift will assist us to both maintain and broaden our services to people with a disability, young and old, families and carers. Thank you.

ONWARD STROKE CLUB
On behalf of our members and volunteers of the Onward Stroke Club I am very happy to thank the Canberra Southern Cross Club Community Support Grant Committee for your very generous support. The Onward Stroke Club id a very small group of people who have suffered Stroke or like illness, and the money will be used to enable the group to have excursions and enable us to provide a Christmas Party with gifts and the end of the year for members and family. Thank you very much.

SLEEP APNOEA ASSOCIATION
On behalf of the Sleep Apnoea Association of the ACT, I would like to forward to the Canberra Southern Cross Club our sincere appreciation and thank you for our Grant. The funds will assist the organisation to continue in its core role of providing support, assistance and advice to many diagnosed and undiagnosed sufferers of the sleeping disorder known as obstructive sleep apnoea. AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY RESERVE FORCES DAY COUNCIL
I would like to thank the Canberra Southern Cross Club most sincerely for your wonderful donation to aid support to the Australian Reserve Forces Day Council receives no public funding we rely entirely on donations to continue our work supporting the Reserve Forces both currently serving members and former reservists. Your donation will enable us to maintain our program of prizes awarded to the most outstanding cadet below senior rank in each of the Units. Your support to our prize-giving program will help to encourage future leaders for both the community in general and for the Australian Defence Force, both permanent and reserve components.
