I’ve been staggered by the kind welcome my family and I have received from Southern Cross Club members and all Canberrans since we moved here in July. The warmth of the welcome has more than compensated for the chilly mornings of July and August! Becoming the CEO of the Canberra Southern Cross Club is an honour and a privilege and I will work tirelessly to ensure that our members are in no doubt they are a part of the best Club in Canberra. The strong goodwill the Club enjoys within the community provides a great base to build upon.
One of my first decisions was to ensure you once again start to receive a copy of Members Magazine in your mail box each quarter. There’s many wonderful events and promotions coming up across all our venues over Spring for you to enjoy. I’m particularly excited about our new outlet ‘Snapper’, the relocated and refurbished Fish and Chip shop at the Yacht Club which opens in early September. Through the refurbishment the venue becomes much more than just a fish and chip shop – although our fresh fish and magnificent chips do make it one of the best meals in Canberra.
The outlet will be open 7 days a week and serve Lonsdale Street Roasters coffee and a great selection of snacks and treats prepared in our own pastry kitchen. The whole Yacht Club precinct is a treasure of Canberra and we intend to play our part in helping bring the city to the lake this Spring and Summer.
Being from a horse racing background I’m also excited when Spring comes around, as it means its Melbourne Cup time. On page six of Members Magazine we take a look at some of the long range hopes for this year’s Cup with the help of Leigh Jordon, the man responsible for recruiting all the international stars who invade our shores in Spring.
The team at all our venues will make sure that the best place to enjoy Cup Day in Canberra will be at the Southern Cross Club. Inside, you’ll also find a huge array of other activities on offer in Spring including super kids school holiday activities, great wine dinners and fabulous shows. Plus our health clubs have some good deals on to help you break out of winter hibernation.
Our Star Rewards program will also flex its muscle during Spring. It’s a very rewarding program, I think the best in Canberra, providing up to three times the value when you redeem your points for food and beverages at our venues.
For bonus offers and up to the minute news please make sure you’ve subscribed to our e-newsletter which comes out weekly. You can join up easily at our website cscc.com.au
The team and I look forward to seeing you in Spring.
