Tony Thomas and Friends

1-4pm Sunday 4 June | Jamison

Sunday afternoon Jazz at Jamison – enjoy three hours of free live jazz from 1pm in the lounge.

Outstanding Canberra trumpeter, Tony Thomas, leads this popular local assembly of like minded musicians playing wonderful New Orleans style traditional jazz.

Tony was the leader of Canberra’s most famous and longest running jazz band, the Black Mountain Jazz Band and today, he remains one of the country’s leading traditional jazz musicians, much in demand not only for his trumpet playing but his gravelly vocals, with a touch of humour on the side.

Tony will be joined by Ron Cook on piano, Garry Owen on drums, Evan Smith on bass and special guest, Sydney reeds player Colin Beale. Always a crowd pleaser, this band is guaranteed to deliver an afternoon of upbeat, foot stomping traditional jazz.
