The MV Southern Cross departs daily for a wonderful trip around Canberra's Lake Burley Griffin and is the perfect way to see some of Canberra’s biggest attractions. Government House Gardens cruise
No other tour in Canberra gives you access to the beautiful gardens of Government House. This exclusive tour explores the tranquil western shoreline of Lake Burley Griffin. Thursdays 9am-11.15am

Lunch and dinner cruises
Soft music, fine cuisine, an elegant ambience and wonderful views from Lake Burley Griffin transforms a lunch or dinner cruise into the ultimate experience! You can purchase drinks at the bar and enjoy the magical scenery from the upper deck before dining.
School groups
These popular educational cruises have been designed to give students a different perspective of the National Capital and to introduce them to Lake Burley Griffin. The interesting commentary highlights several topics, and there is also the opportunity for students to ask questions. The cruise covers many aspects of the Canberra foreshore including:
- National Buildings
- Aboriginal Themes
- Ecology
- History
Cruises are tailored wherever possible to fit in with school itineraries and curriculum. Light refreshments are also available to purchase from the snack bar.

Tour groups/coach groups
A cruise of Lake Burley Griffin is a must for any tour of Canberra. Tour operators and groups can make a booking to schedule a cruise for 20 or more people, with coach drivers travelling free of charge.

Custom built for optimum comfort and scenic touring of Lake Burley Griffin, the MV Southern Cross is fully equipped with modern features including full air conditioning and central heating, wheel chair access and disabled facilities on the lower deck. For added passenger enjoyment, it also offers a fully stocked bar service, light refreshments and, for special occasions, has a dining capacity of 56 for the lower deck and 20 for the upper deck. |
